February

Wow, another February in the books. It was a busy one! Lots of stuff happened–my 37th birthday, our 17th wedding anniversary and lots of other fun stuff! Here is the photographic evidence. 🙂

Brian knows how much I love globes, and he hand-painted this large canvas for me as a birthday gift. SO sweet and I absolutely love it. And him.

On our anniversary, which fell on a Saturday, we just spent the day together having fun. We had a wonderful lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. Then, we went out to Rose Hill for about an hour, just enjoying the sunshine and being in one of our favorite places.

Then we went to Lake Juliette to watch the sun set on 17 years.

Last weekend, we were so excited to be there as Larry got baptized! It was a very special moment and despite Brian getting called out of the sanctuary for work, I was still able to capture it.

He was so happy as he came up out of the water, he threw his fists up in the air and let out a “Whoop!” that got some laughs from the congregation.

Larry and Ginger outside the church afterwards.

What a jam-packed February! March looks to be even busier!

That’s A Wrap

What a whirlwind the past few weeks have been! So much awesomeness packed into such little time! I’ll just let the pictures tell the story. The many, many pictures. ;D

A new globe! We saw this one in an antique store and Ginger was so sweet and got it for me as an early Christmas present!

And as we neared the end of the month, just before Christmas, our family received the biggest blessing: Larry came home! My sweet sister, Ginger, met her prince charming more than 25 years ago, but due to difficult circumstances, they were unable to be together until now. Finally, he is home and they are able to truly start their happily ever after!

And we had the best family Christmas in *years*.

So much happiness, much-needed by all of us. 2013 was a very hard year in many ways. Looking to 2014 now. Onward we go!

2013 Country Living Fair

Wow, what a busy Autumn it has been! I have been a bad blogger and have not kept up with everything going on as it happened! This will be the first of at least a couple catch-up posts!

The last weekend in October, Brian, Ginger and I braved some of the first really cold temps of the season and ventured about an hour and a half north, to Stone Mountain, for our very first trip to the Country Living Fair! This fair is put on each year by Country Living Magazine, and it is advertised as the magazine’s pages “come to life”! And it certainly was. There was so much to look at! Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our day. And I took hundreds!

We got there a little early, and the line to get in was already very long. But the Country Living Fair crew was super-efficient in getting everybody’s hands stamped and getting us in! It hardly took any time at all, and we were walking through the gate and into the fair!

This little beauty came home with me.

After we left the fair, we went exploring around Stone Mountain Park, and there were some gorgeous sights to behold!

A lovely area with a covered bridge and lots of beautiful fall foliage.

SUCH a fun day!! We can’t wait till next year’s fair!

Happy IKEA Day

This past Monday was Ginger’s 46th birthday! We decided rather spontaneously, over the weekend, to spend the day at one of our most favorite places–IKEA! I have loved IKEA since I was a teenager and requested and drooled over their catalog right on up to 2005, when IKEA finally came to Atlanta. Since then, Brian, Ginger and I have made many, many trips. We would live there if we could, right in one of the showroom display bedrooms or apartments.

We did things a little differently this time–usually, we get there right when they open at 10 and shop for a bit, then eat lunch in the IKEA cafeteria, THEN shop some more! This time, we got there at about noon, ate lunch right away, then spent the next 4-5 hours shopping.

It was a special birthday lunch!!

Mmmmmm…meatballs!

I snuck in a birthday candle and lighter so Ginger could make a wish!

I made Ginger a paper ribbon big enough for a pony that said “I spent my birthday at IKEA.” It got her lots of attention and many “happy birthday” wishes! She even got a hug from a complete stranger! It was fun.

We went into one of IKEA’s display apartments, and Ginger looked for birthday ice cream in the kitchen’s freezer.

Sadly, there wasn’t any birthday ice cream.

One day, we’re going to get Brian his very own Poang chair. He sits in one every time we go to IKEA.

‘Bout to get our shop on in the downstairs Marketplace.

Did y’all need a pillow (or 70)?!

Pretty pineapple glasses.

I was excited to see these Dala Horse cake pans. I want a wooden Dala Horse figurine! Too bad IKEA doesn’t sell them in the store anymore.

Bought another one of these awesome frying pans.

Took a pic of these chair pads, just because they were colorful and pretty. 🙂

You are here.

Me, too, IKEA art lady. Me, too.

No, IKEA–YOU stop. Crazy self.

What a fun day we had!! A birthday celebration AND IKEA, all in one day? Who could ask for anything more?! Happy Birthday month, Ginger!!
